Composition

Susan’s love of composition goes back as far as she can remember to when she was learning the piano and trying to sketch out melodies before she could read music.

An active composer, she has collaborated with Stephen Baysted on scores for director Phil Grabsky’s feature films for Exhibition on Screen: The Impressionists: And the Man Who Made Them (composer, additional music, arranger); I, Claude Monet (arranger), Renoir: Revered and Reviled (additional composition, score preparation); Young Picasso and Leonardo: The Works (additional composition). For TV she arranged some of the piano tracks in Tom Kerridge’s Lose weight for Good.

In October 2021, Susan won the 3 Coro Universitario Sant Yago Choral Composition Competition for her choral work Terra qui floreix, which was awarded first prize for the best work in the Valencian language.

Her setting of a Wordsworth poem for choir and piano Glide Gently was selected for performance in the finals of the Chiswick Choir 2021 Choral Composition Competition.
